SRD SASSA Status Check Declined

SASSA status check has three types of major statuses: status pending, status declined, and status failed. I have already explained the other two SASSA statutes in previous posts. If you have missed my previous guides, then check them now.
So today our topic is SRD SASSA status check declined, and this is not a good experience to have this status. This status is for those who have received a rejection for their SRD R370 grant application.
I have personally experienced this status and tested many ways to come out of this situation. With my personal testing, I have found the perfect solution for this problem. Please read this article to learn about it.
What Does the SASSA SRD Status Check Declined Mean?
If you see “SRD SASSA Status Check Declined,” it means your application for help money was not accepted. SASSA checks your personal and money details. If there is any problem like your income is too high or your details are not complete they will not approve your request.
This status often appears when your income is above the threshold, your identity cannot be verified, or you already receive other forms of government support. SASSA checks your bank details, identity number, and other records to confirm that you meet all the grant rules.
A declined status does not always mean you are permanently disqualified. It simply means that SASSA has found a reason to reject your application during the review process. This could be based on data from banks, government databases, or third-party systems.
Sometimes, a small mistake in your personal details or changes in your financial records can cause your status to be declined. The SRD grant system is strict because it is designed to help only those who are truly in need. So, if anything looks incorrect or suspicious, the system will decline your application.
Reasons for the Declined Application for SRD R370 SASSA Grant
There are several reasons why your SRD (Social Relief of Distress) application may be declined by SASSA. Each reason is linked to the rules set for receiving the grant. Below are the most common causes:
Application Declined: Income Source Found
If SASSA finds out that more than R624 is deposited into your bank account each month your SRD grant application will be rejected. This assistance is meant only for people who have very little or no income at all. For example if someone only receives a small amount of money occasionally from a close relative that might be acceptable. But if a regular salary or business income is deposited into the account every month it goes against the rules of this grant. That’s why when applying it is important that your bank account records show your true financial situation clearly and accurately.
Already Receiving a SASSA Grant?
If you’re already getting another SASSA grant like an old age, disability, or child support grant you won’t qualify for the SRD R350 grant. The system automatically checks for this and will decline your application if you’re already receiving other support.
UIF Registered
If you are registered with the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) and may receive benefits from it, SASSA will not approve your SRD grant.
NSFAS Beneficiary
Students receiving funds from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) are not eligible for the SRD grant.
Identity Verification Failed
If your ID details do not match the records in the Department of Home Affairs, your application will be declined.
Age Outside the Limit
The SRD grant is for people between the ages of 18 and 60. If you are younger or older, your application will be rejected.
Deceased Record Found
If the system wrongly shows you as deceased in the Department of Home Affairs records, SASSA will decline your application.
Government Payroll Registered
If your name appears on a government payroll (e.g., as an employee), you are not allowed to receive the SRD grant.
Fraudulent Application
If the system detects that your application is linked to fraud, it will be declined immediately.
Submit an SASSA SRD Grant Appeal for Reconsideration
If your SRD grant application was declined, you can submit an appeal for reconsideration. This means you are asking SASSA to review your application again. Follow these steps to appeal properly:
Step 1: Visit the Appeal Website
Go to the official SASSA appeals website:
https://srd.dsd.gov.za/appeals
This site is run by the Department of Social Development (DSD), not SASSA directly. All SRD appeals must be submitted here.
Step 2: Enter Your ID and Phone Number
Type your South African ID number and the cellphone number you used when applying for the SRD grant. Make sure the details are correct.
Step 3: Receive OTP (One-Time PIN)
The system will send an OTP to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to verify your identity.
Step 4: Choose the Month
Select the month you want to appeal for. If your application was declined for more than one month, you must appeal each month separately.
Step 5: Select the Reason for Appeal
You will see the reason why your application was declined (such as “Alternative Income Source Identified”). Choose the correct reason for appealing and provide any extra explanation if needed.
Step 6: Submit Your Appeal
Click “Submit.” Your appeal will now be reviewed by the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA). This process is independent of SASSA.
Important Notes:
- You must appeal within 90 days of the decline.
- A decision may take up to 90 days, depending on the case.
- Check the status of your appeal on the same website.
Appealing gives you a second chance. Make sure all your information is accurate and updated before submitting.
